BH Fitness – The Green Fitness Equipment Manufacturer

In 2010 BH Fitness signed up to the “10:10 green initiative” and made a commitment to make a more rational use of natural resources.

The campaign is a private initiative, launched by The Guardian newspaper, which seeks to promote products that are manufactured in accordance with green policies.

BH Fitness has introduced the following into it’s range of fitness equipment:

Green Power Motors
- Concept: Green Power Motors technology, which applied to motors and control cards, allows more efficient use of energy, and therefore record lower consumption (up to 15%) for the same performance
- Implementation: Currently, all BH Fitness treadmills, from the lowest-end model to the highest, are equipped with engines Green Power technology.
- Advantage:It allows lower power consumption than other treadmills or help to make more effective use of natural resources, as it requires less electric power to function properly

Powered By You
- Concept: Self Powered models require no external power source and use the energy created by you during your exercise to power the fitness machine
- Application: BH Fitness have applied the self-generation technology to a wide range of exercise bikes and elliptical cross trainers in the range. Self generating equipment is available from entry level models right up to full commercial equipment.
- Advantage: External power is not needed – the user generates the power during exercise.  No mains connection is required which means that not only are you saving electricity but also you have the freedom to exercise anywhere in your house.

Building a Treadmill - Lose the Spanners...

The Prisma range of treadmills from BH Fitness have "Plug and Run" technology. But what does this mean? If you watch the video below you'll see that it's all about how easy it is to build your treadmill and how quickly you can go from boxed to fully assembled and ready for use.

There are 5 easy steps to follow:

1) Take the treadmill out of the box and remove all of the packaging
2) Lift the console posts into position - they pivot at the point where they connect to the treadmill deck and can be lifted by one person (as shown in the video)
3) Tighten the knobs to secure the posts in place
4) Fold the console into position and secure in place by tightening the knobs.

At this point, you can start to use the treadmill. It's fully functional and ready to go.

5) This next bit is optional. You can finish off the treadmill by fitting the plastic covers on each side of the machine. You'll need a screwdriver for this (supplied with the machines) but again these are very easy to fit.

You might be reading this and wondering why we're making such a big deal out of "Plug and Run". If we tell you that we have built hundreds of treadmills, of all sizes and from many different manufacturers, we hope that you'l believe us when we tell you that some treadmills can be a nightmare to assemble. Whether it's missing parts, bolts that don't fit, impossible angles to fit screws or just simply that you need 2 pairs of hands we've seen it all. That's why Plug and Run is fantastic news for anyone looking for a treadmill who doesn't want to undertake any DIY.

Sit back and watch the video - one person taking less than 2 minutes to go from boxed to running. You won't get that with any other treadmill system.

Are you thinking of buying fitness equipment?

If you've not had an item of fitness equipment before it can be difficult to work out which model is right for you. The range of treadmills and cross trainers from BH Fitness is fantastic - but how do you decide which model to pick. One of our retailers, Inspire Fitness, has sent us this guide to help you to pick the BH Fitness treadmill or cross trainer that will best suit your needs.

Treadmills
When buying a treadmill you need to think about the following things:

How often will you use the treadmill?

Will you be walking, jogging, running?

How tall are you, what is your stride length?

If you are using the treadmill frequently you will need to think about purchasing a treadmill with a large running belt and lots of cushioning, this will ensure impact on the knees is reduced.

If you are going to use the treadmill to run or sprint you will need a wide deck - the faster you run the more you space you will need. If you're tall you will need a long running belt.

It is always wise to speak to an expert when buying a treadmill, so why not give Inspire Fitness a call and let them help you make the right choice of treadmill.

More detailed treadmill guild can be found on the Inspire Fitness website:

Cross Trainer (Elliptical)
When buying a cross trainer (elliptical) you need to think about the following things:

How tall are you and others who will be using the equipment?
If you are over 1.5 m the general rule is you will want a stride length of over 18” to ensure that the cross trainer feels natural to use. Imagine if someone ties your shoes laces together - you can't walk because your normal stride length is a lot longer. Same applies to a cross trainer, if the stride is too short you will not be able to have an effective work out. In the same way if you are shorter you don’t want a stride length that’s too long as you will feel over stretched all the time. This is more important on the rear driven machines as some who is shorter can still use a 19” stride length cross trainer if its front driven.

Have you ever used a cross trainer before?
There is a big difference between front and rear driven machines. The front driven machines are generally best as they give a greater level of comfort and also anybody above 1 m tall can use a 19” stride length - this is very helpful when the machine is going to be used by many members of the family.

How often are you going to use it?
If you are going to use the cross trainer (elliptical) for long periods of time i.e. over 30mins per session then I would recommend ensuring that the cross trainer has full bearing joints and not just greased bushes. This will help give a smooth feel to the cross trainer and over all comfort of the cross trainer.

It is always wise to speak to an expert when buying a cross trainer (elliptical)  so why not give Inspire Fitness a call and let them help you make the right choice of cross trainer (elliptical).
