ISPO 2012 in Munich (Jan 29 - Feb ) saw the official launch of the BH Fitness range for 2012. Our new range of treadmills, cross trainers, exercise bikes and spinning bikes were on display for all to see and try....and the feedback that we had from all of our customers was fantastic.

Pride of place was given to the new i.Concept range of fitness equipment. The i.Concept technology is exclusively available on BH Fitness equipment and it is sure to revolutionise the world of fitness machines. Put simply, you can use your iPad or iPhone to control your treadmill, cross trainer or exercise bike and can use your iPad or iPhone whilst training.

So, if you want to search the web, check emails, make calls, watch TV or do whatever you normally do with your iPad or iPhone whilst training then i.Concept is the solution for you. There's nothing else like it - your i-device becomes the console of the fitness machine and away you go. There's no messing with connections, no set-up...just dock and go.

BH FITNESS will be attending ISPO 2012 with the ambitious goal of being the first fitness company worldwide to present the latest innovation that will mark a before and after in the world of fitness. It will be welcoming 100% motivational fitness.

IT’S HERE – THE CURE FOR ORANGE PEEL SYNDROME

No matter how hard we try and avoid it at some point we are all victims of the orange peel syndrome. Group Cycling is an increasingly popular way of keeping fit. If you're not sure what it's all about then quite simply you use an indoor cycle (commonly known as a spinning bike) and, along with all of the other members in your class, follow the instructors lead.

There are group cycling classes throughout the UK and you're sure to find one that's convenient for you. We're particularly interested in group cycles and spin bikes in general because we have one of the best indoor cycles on the market...correction: we have two of the best indoor cycles on the market. They're called the Duke Indoor Cycle and the Duke Magnetic Indoor Cycle. You can see the full specification by following the links, but principally the main difference is that the Duke Magnetic has an alimunium flywheel and magnetic resist control, whereas the Duke uses friction to control the resistance.

Because of the quality of the Duke range we're finding that more and more group cycling centres and choosing our indoor cycles for their classes. I've had similar products in the past but this is the first one that I've found that is rechargable. Being able to wear the heat wrap outdoors is fantastic - all of the others that I've tried have had to be plugged in to the mains when I'm using it.
The different heat settings are really useful - my wife and I both use the heat wrap and I prefer to use the higher setting whereas she uses it on the low setting.
Working outdoors in the cold weather increases the level of pain that I feel in my lower back. I've been wearing the heat-wrap every day for about 1 month and I can feel the difference in the level of mobility that I now have.
I wear the heat-wrap under my jacket and no-one can tell. I was concerned that it would look a bit bulky but it's really quite a slim design and the benefit that I get from wearing it means that I don't really care anyway!!
I thought that it was a bit expensive - you can buy cheaper ones that you have to plug into the electricity when you're using it - but the fact that you can be truly mobile with this one is invaluable to me. I'm so pleased I chose this heat wrap instead of the cheaper ones.
I recharge mine every night so that it's ready for me in the morning. It's made a real difference to me in this cold weather.

Building a Treadmill - Lose the Spanners...

The Prisma range of treadmills from BH Fitness have "Plug and Run" technology. But what does this mean? If you watch the video below you'll see that it's all about how easy it is to build your treadmill and how quickly you can go from boxed to fully assembled and ready for use.

There are 5 easy steps to follow:

1) Take the treadmill out of the box and remove all of the packaging
2) Lift the console posts into position - they pivot at the point where they connect to the treadmill deck and can be lifted by one person (as shown in the video)
3) Tighten the knobs to secure the posts in place
4) Fold the console into position and secure in place by tightening the knobs.

At this point, you can start to use the treadmill. It's fully functional and ready to go.

5) This next bit is optional. You can finish off the treadmill by fitting the plastic covers on each side of the machine. You'll need a screwdriver for this (supplied with the machines) but again these are very easy to fit.

You might be reading this and wondering why we're making such a big deal out of "Plug and Run". If we tell you that we have built hundreds of treadmills, of all sizes and from many different manufacturers, we hope that you'l believe us when we tell you that some treadmills can be a nightmare to assemble. Treadmills

When buying a treadmill you need to think about the following things:

How often will you use the treadmill?

Cross Trainer (Elliptical)

When buying a cross trainer (elliptical) you need to think about the following things:

How tall are you and others who will be using the equipment?

If you are over 1.5 m the general rule is you will want a stride length of over 18” to ensure that the cross trainer feels natural to use. Imagine if someone ties your shoes laces together - you can't walk because your normal stride length is a lot longer. Same applies to a cross trainer, if the stride is too short you will not be able to have an effective work out. In the same way if you are shorter you don’t want a stride length that’s too long as you will feel over stretched all the time. This is more important on the rear driven machines as some who is shorter can still use a 19” stride length cross trainer if its front driven.

Have you ever used a cross trainer before?

There is a big difference between front and rear driven machines. The front driven machines are generally best as they give a greater level of comfort and also anybody above 1 m tall can use a 19” stride length - this is very helpful when the machine is going to be used by many members of the family.

How often are you going to use it?

If you are going to use the cross trainer (elliptical) for long periods of time i.e. over 30mins per session then I would recommend ensuring that the cross trainer has full bearing joints and not just greased bushes. This will help give a smooth feel to the cross trainer and over all comfort of the cross trainer.
